About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer skilled in sheet metal fabrication to join our team in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The role involves designing and preparing detailed drawings and documentation for sheet metal products, collaborating closely with production teams and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models of sheet metal parts and fabricated assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Create detailed 2D shop drawings for bending, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Utilize sheet metal design features and commands effectively within SolidWorks.
- Compile bills of materials covering fabrication, machining, and purchased components.
- Generate DXF and nesting files of flat patterns suitable for laser cutting operations.
- Possess sound knowledge of engineering components such as gearboxes, motors, and gears.
- Coordinate with the production team and external bending/fabrication vendors to resolve drawing queries.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- A diploma in mechanical engineering.
- Certified SolidWorks training.
- Between six months and eight years of experience designing in the sheet metal industry.
- Familiarity with nesting techniques for sheet metal parts.
- Experience working alongside laser cutting and CNC bending machine operators.
