Role Overview
The Material Planner is responsible for guaranteeing that raw materials and packaging components are available as per manufacturing demands. This role involves forecasting supplies to vendors promptly, tracking supplier punctuality, and aiding corrective measures to meet supplier performance benchmarks. Additionally, the Material Planner maintains raw and packaging inventory levels aligned with targets set by the Supply Chain Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly reviews of Safety Stocks, Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), and Lot Sizes.
- Manage depletion of raw materials and coordinate transitions to alternative products.
- Maintain inventory at designated stock levels.
- Collaborate with various departments to address at-risk or slow-moving inventories through action plans.
- Consistently act on MRP Suggested Purchases daily to uphold production schedules.
- Ensure materials are delivered on time while aiming to reduce stock quantities and overcome warehouse space limitations.
- Review supplier delivery confirmations, adjust orders as necessary, and inform planning and production teams of any unmet deliveries.
- Monitor and act upon MRP Exception alerts to reschedule orders appropriately.
- Review overdue inbound shipments to support timely resolution of delivery delays or issues.
- Coordinate with relevant functions to accurately set up and order new raw or packaging materials promptly.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Preferably holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong grasp of fundamental supply chain principles combined with practical experience in inventory and material planning.
- Proficient in ERP systems, with preference for SAP expertise.
- Possesses solid business acumen and insightful understanding of operational dynamics.
