As Wave's presence grows in The Gambia, the Marketing Manager will take full ownership of campaign planning and execution, working closely with diverse teams to strengthen Wave's market presence and customer engagement. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, this key role combines strategic implementation with hands-on management to achieve critical business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments like Payments, Business Development, Sales, Product Marketing, and Support.
  • Create clear briefs for creative teams and participate in feedback processes to uphold brand standards and messaging.
  • Maintain strong relationships with agencies and vendors to ensure quality delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive marketing and project reports for internal stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years of marketing experience blending analytical expertise with strategic insight.
  • Proficient with business intelligence tools and dashboards to analyze data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experienced in designing and overseeing market research projects, including agency management and insight synthesis.
  • Skilled in managing brand sponsorships and partnerships with proven ability in negotiation and activation measurement.
  • Strong understanding of ATL and BTL activation through sponsorships for media visibility and audience engagement.
  • Adept at cross-functional collaboration within complex organizations, balancing global and local team interactions.
  • Excellent project management and multitasking capabilities with a focus on reliability.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to translate data into persuasive presentations.
  • Fluent in both English and French, with experience working with agencies and research partners.

Preferred Attributes

  • A genuine passion for data-driven decision-making.
  • Deep familiarity with the Gambian consumer market and media landscape.
  • Comfortable bridging analytical work with partnership negotiations.
  • Experienced in commissioning and challenging research to ensure rigor and relevance.
  • Independent and self-motivated contributor able to deliver results without direct reports.
  • Background in mobile money, fintech, telecom, FMCG, or strategic research, especially in West Africa.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment valuing evidence over intuition.
  • Team collaborator able to work effectively with global and local stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • Location: Based in The Gambia (Banjul).
  • Work authorization in The Gambia is mandatory.
  • Permanent employment status.
  • Competitive salary calculated transparently.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
