About the Role
Prime Video is revolutionizing media consumption by offering a vast array of films, TV series, award-winning original content, premium add-on subscriptions like HBO, and live broadcasts including Thursday Night Football. Operating at Amazon's scale, our platform achieves exceptional playback reliability, rapid video start times, and superior image quality across thousands of device types in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
The Prime Video Payments team is dedicated to representing customer interests, advocating on their behalf, and providing solutions to attract, engage, and retain users everywhere. We aim to make Prime Video accessible to any internet-connected user globally.
Our infrastructure handles billions of daily requests with outstanding reliability and minimal maintenance. We employ AWS services such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, Kinesis, IoT, and CloudFront to power our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage one or two teams of exceptional Software Development Engineers (SDEs) working on scalable, distributed systems.
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and guide SDEs and Quality Assurance Engineers (QAEs) across varying experience levels.
- Plan, coordinate, and ensure on-time delivery of projects within an Agile/Scrum framework.
- Drive discussions and decisions around software design, architecture, processes, and development methodologies.
- Oversee performance metrics and handle operational support for team-owned software.
- Champion software engineering best practices to enhance team productivity and code quality across engineering groups.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, constructive code critique, and mentoring engineers.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Minimum of 3 years managing and leading engineering teams.
- Over 8 years designing and developing multi-tier web services.
- Familiarity with comprehensive software development lifecycle practices including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
- Experience collaborating closely with product and program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication skills for interacting with users, cross-functional technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, explain product functionality, and align on strategy.
- Proven track record in recruiting, mentoring, and managing software engineering teams to enhance skills and increase effectiveness in product delivery.
