Job Overview

Amazon is recruiting Maintenance Technicians to join the expanding Reliability, Maintenance & Engineering team at its Chullora site in Sydney. In this role, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility by maintaining and repairing material handling and automated packaging equipment as well as distribution machinery.

Key Duties

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all site equipment.
  • Prioritize health and safety protocols in all maintenance activities.
  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns, communicating effectively with affected teams and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by analyzing breakdowns and providing feedback and enhancement suggestions through supervisory channels.
  • Maintain high equipment availability to support internal customers.
  • Collaborate with and learn from experienced Senior Maintenance Technicians.
  • Carry out general building maintenance alongside daily mechanical duties.

Working Hours

This position follows a rotating roster primarily consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week. Flexibility is required to cover shift gaps during others’ leave or training periods. The role includes entitlement to annual leave and applicable penalty rates to support 24/7 operations.

Team Environment

The RME team consists of technically proficient and cooperative members led by experienced supervisors. Together, they ensure that equipment across Amazon’s global fulfillment centers operates optimally through maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology with a valid electrical trade license, Certificate III in Engineering, Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Turner), or Australian-recognized equivalent trade qualifications.
  • Proven experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Competence in fault finding within material handling and automation systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience in conveyor systems maintenance and managing motor controllers/inverters.
  • Familiarity with applicable health and safety standards and regulations.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of sortation machinery.
  • Skills in maintaining and configuring barcode scanners.
  • Experience servicing print and apply machinery.
