Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our dynamic food manufacturing environment. You will be integral in maintaining the functionality, safety, and efficiency of plant and machinery within our grading and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance on plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks in production and warehouse areas.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, diagnosing and addressing mechanical faults.
- Refurbish or replace parts as needed to maintain machinery.
- Keep machines and related equipment clean and operationally sound.
- Complete thorough inspections, checks, and maintenance documentation.
- Manage spare parts inventory and consignment stocks effectively.
- Provide regular maintenance reports and updates to the Site Manager.
- Engage in production and maintenance meetings to coordinate activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and tidy workplace.
- Identify and communicate any safety hazards or risks associated with maintenance work.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter with solid experience in industrial or manufacturing settings, preferably in food or FMCG sectors. You are proactive, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and adept at troubleshooting. You work well both independently and collaboratively, appreciating the importance of minimizing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields.
- Proven background in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with both preventive and reactive maintenance procedures.
- Ability to prioritize maintenance tasks based on operational needs.
- Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills and team collaboration aptitude.
- Flexibility to tolerate challenging work conditions such as wet, dusty, or physically demanding environments.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
- Commitment to health, safety, compliance, and quality standards.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
