Job Overview
This full-time role is based onsite in Barnet and involves performing routine and reactive maintenance duties. Responsibilities include cleaning interior and exterior areas, maintaining grounds, executing minor building repairs, conducting site inspections, and reporting hazards or issues. The Maintenance Operative will employ proper health and safety protocols, utilize relevant tools and equipment, and work autonomously as well as collaboratively with colleagues. Occasional client interactions to address maintenance requests professionally are also expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular internal and external cleaning tasks to maintain facilities.
- Conduct grounds maintenance activities ensuring tidy and safe outdoor areas.
- Carry out minor repairs related to building fabric and maintenance tasks using appropriate tools.
- Inspect facilities to identify and report hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow health and safety guidelines strictly during all tasks.
- Engage professionally with clients and site users to respond to maintenance requests.
- Work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance involving cleaning, grounds upkeep, and basic building repairs.
- Proficient in safe and effective operation of common maintenance tools and equipment.
- Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety practices for maintenance and cleaning activities.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and discipline to adhere to scheduled plans and instructions.
- Effective communication skills with a professional and customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to manage time efficiently working individually and collaboratively in a team.
- Previous employment in a similar maintenance or facilities role is beneficial.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between different sites as needed.
