Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an organised and proactive Machinery Workshop Technician to become a vital part of the Engineering team at Reading college. This position offers a chance to contribute significantly to the practical teaching environment by ensuring workshops, equipment, and learning spaces are safe, well-maintained, and fully stocked.
You will collaborate closely with teaching staff to provide technical assistance within Engineering workshops, support learners in building their practical skills, and uphold rigorous health and safety standards. This is a full-time, permanent role requiring 37 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support practical learning activities by assisting learners during engineering tasks.
- Maintain workshop equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning.
- Manage workshop resources including stock control and record keeping.
- Communicate efficiently with staff and students, fostering a productive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a Level 3 or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience in an engineering workshop or a similar technical setting.
- Strong understanding of engineering machinery and workshop protocols.
- Skilled in maintaining tools and machinery with practical troubleshooting experience.
