Role Objective

The Machine Operator works within the Glass Line, performing assigned tasks and routines. The role demands thorough knowledge of different types of glass and sealed unit assembly procedures. Operators are responsible for safely handling and moving products and correctly identifying glass materials. Compliance with all safety regulations and injury prevention policies throughout the facility is mandatory. Additionally, operators collaborate with the continuous improvement team to identify and implement process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to maintain top quality and efficiency in production
  • Identify and properly use all required personal protective equipment for glass handling
  • Detect materials failing quality standards and report defects to the Team Leader
  • Accurately complete quality documentation in a timely manner
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, and free of clutter; manage waste recycling and daily dust removal
  • Adhere strictly to injury prevention policies and procedures
  • Maintain all departmental equipment and company materials in a clean and professional state
  • Operate insulated glass (IG) lines proficiently

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required
  • Comfort with measurements in both millimeters and inches (metric and imperial systems)
  • Ability to distinguish different glass types
  • Capability to read and interpret specification sheets
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English
