Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Logistics Manager responsible for managing the entire scope of import, export, customs clearance, and domestic shipping operations within the organization. This position demands ensuring logistics processes are carried out efficiently, punctually, and cost-effectively, while strictly adhering to applicable local and international customs, regulatory, and governmental laws.
Key Duties
- Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics department to enhance skill sets, boost performance, and maintain high operational standards.
- Formulate strategic logistics plans and goals aligned with the organization's approved business objectives.
- Keep abreast of customs laws, governmental requirements, and updates across pertinent ports and regulatory agencies.
- Supervise import and export workflows to guarantee prompt delivery of necessary goods and supplies.
- Ensure outbound shipments to branches and international clients are dispatched on schedule to meet sales targets.
- Manage import, export, and shipping expenses within budget while implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Oversee domestic distribution processes from the primary warehouse to regional centers and branch locations.
- Collaborate daily with internal teams to ensure seamless logistics operations and uninterrupted business functions.
- Maintain proper records including customs releases, invoices, import/export documentation, and shipping files.
- Evaluate logistics metrics related to import/export, customs clearance, and local shipping activities.
- Compile detailed quarterly and annual reports on logistics performance for senior management review.
- Ensure products are accurately registered on government systems and external agencies as per country-specific requirements.
- Identify operational bottlenecks in logistics and apply corrective strategies to minimize delays, expenses, and risks.
- Manage vendor relations including freight forwarders, customs agents, shipping service providers, and other associated partners.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by executive leadership.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline.
- Between eight and ten years of practical experience in logistics with specific expertise in shipping, import/export, and customs clearance.
- Demonstrated experience working closely with customs authorities, port officials, government platforms, and regulatory bodies.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping protocols, documentation, customs laws, and cost management in logistics.
- Proven leadership skills in managing logistics teams, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping operations.
- Excellent planning, coordination, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure, managing urgent and time-sensitive shipments.
- Strong communication abilities and experience in stakeholder engagement.
