Overview
We're seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Lead Storeman / Fork Hoist Operator to play a vital role in managing the daily logistics operations supporting Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands. This position is essential in guaranteeing that all freight movements—both inbound and outbound—are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse and yard activities to ensure seamless operations.
- Accurately sort, receipt, label, scan, and allocate all freight to their respective manifests and destinations.
- Safely load and unload trucks and trailers, ensuring freight security and timeliness.
- Verify documentation, consignment notes, and dangerous goods compliance rigorously.
- Ensure all freight loads are secured properly, align with legal weight restrictions, and meet safety requirements.
- Maintain site safety by monitoring traffic flows and environmental conditions.
- Promptly check and correctly store chilled and frozen products.
- Keep the facility clean, organized, and free from hazards both inside and externally.
- Provide leadership including coaching, directing, and supporting team members.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal teams and external clients.
Requirements
- Possess a valid forklift license and a full Class 1 (or higher) driver’s license.
- Certified in Dangerous Goods handling.
- Current First Aid certification is an advantage.
- Strong command of English and proficient numeracy skills.
- Deep understanding of safe freight loading, strapping, and handling procedures.
- Experience managing oversized freight such as long timber pieces (10-14 meters), water tanks, and other large goods is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret freight paperwork and load plans accurately.
- Exceptional time management skills and the capacity to prioritize effectively under pressure.
- Prior experience in night linehaul loading, logistics, or freight sectors.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Reliable means of transportation to accommodate early morning shifts.
Employment Details
This role primarily operates Monday through Friday, beginning between 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM and ending between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Occasionally, Saturday shifts may be required to address operational demands such as weather-induced schedule disruptions.
