Job description

Position Overview

We invite an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our national Buildings team in Auckland, New Zealand. The role involves providing expert technical leadership in electrical design, verification, and client relationship management for a diverse range of complex building projects. You will contribute to shaping innovative solutions across healthcare, data centres, public infrastructure, and commercial buildings that significantly impact communities throughout New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Steer electrical design methodologies and set technical standards across projects of varying scales.
  • Oversee verification processes, quality assurance, and compliance including producer statements that require local market and regulatory knowledge.
  • Serve as a senior technical representative engaging with clients to represent the organization's electrical engineering capabilities.
  • Drive business growth through technical strategy, active design management, and engagement in market activities.
  • Lead critical project phases such as budgeting, design, procurement, construction monitoring, and governance.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of engineering staff, enhancing team expertise and leadership skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-standard project outcomes.
  • Attend project sites as necessary for delivery oversight, client communication, and quality inspections.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 10 years of post-graduate experience in electrical engineering within the building services sector.
  • Professional Chartered Engineer status preferred, with expertise in verification and technical leadership.
  • Strong design proficiency in electrical systems for buildings, able to lead and review complex designs confidently.
  • Proven track record of fostering client relationships and influencing successful work acquisition.
  • Skilled at mentoring engineering professionals and elevating team capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across various disciplines, regions, and project teams.
  • Pragmatic approach with a focus on quality and ability to challenge and enhance design outcomes.
