Position Overview
Fugro is seeking a Lead for Drilling Operations to join the Marine Site Characterization Operations Team based in Singapore. This role involves leadership of Fugro Singapore's growing Geotechnical Drilling team and equipment management. The successful candidate will be responsible for training drillers, ensuring high-quality geotechnical data and sample collection, and managing the use of specialized deployment equipment, downhole tools, and seabed data acquisition systems according to industry standards and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Kahuna competency framework, including competency assessments for drilling personnel.
- Support Drilling Supervisors on operational and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) issues related to drilling equipment and operations.
- Assist planning and recruitment efforts for drilling staff.
- Review and implement work instructions for drilling equipment across the Asia Pacific region and maintain their availability on the Business Management System (BMS).
- Monitor and ensure compliance of geotechnical operations with established procedures and corporate standards.
- Optimize drilling data execution, borehole plans, and operations efficiency.
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert (SME) for drilling equipment; propose improvements and coordinate equipment upgrades and maintenance with the global team.
- Assist the Equipment Resource Manager in evaluating and inspecting drilling equipment and consumables.
- Collaborate with CPT Operations leadership to enhance drilling systems.
- Coordinate complex port calls involving geotechnical equipment alongside mobilization and vessel operations teams.
- Support career development by providing guidance and ensuring regular performance appraisals of drilling personnel.
- Maintain and manage preparation, setup, testing, and maintenance of geotechnical tools and systems used offshore.
- Ensure safe operation of all drilling data and sample acquisition equipment.
- Provide remote troubleshooting and solutions to maintain equipment performance.
- Demonstrate proactive safety awareness and emergency response capabilities.
- Participate in incident investigations related to drilling equipment and implement corrective measures.
- Manage inventory and resupply of drilling equipment and consumables for vessels operating in the APAC region.
- Exhibit a positive, confident, and cooperative approach to support both drilling and sampling teams.
Candidate Profile
- At least 10 years of offshore geotechnical drilling experience and familiarity with seabed data acquisition and sampling systems such as Fugro WISON, SEACALF, APVDB WISON, ROSON, Geomil, and Datem systems.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems and software relevant to drilling operations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Team-oriented and optimistic attitude.
- Physically fit to meet stringent offshore medical requirements and capable of working in challenging offshore environments including working at heights.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally and work offshore as needed.
