Job Overview
Shannex Incorporated invites compassionate, honest, and professional individuals to join the Opal Ridge Enhanced Care team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, as a Laundry Aide. This role offers meaningful work in a supportive environment dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents.
Role Responsibilities
- Sorting laundry based on type and soil level, selecting suitable washing formulas and cycles.
- Operating commercial washing machines, loading soiled laundry, setting appropriate wash cycles, and unloading clean laundry.
- Handling dryers and extractors by loading wet laundry, selecting correct drying settings, and unloading items.
- Separating clean laundry into designated baskets or racks, counting linens per area quotas, organizing laundry carts, and labeling resident garments accurately.
- Collecting soiled laundry from facility areas and delivering clean laundry using carts.
- Inspecting laundry items for damages such as tears or missing buttons and forwarding those needing repair.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the laundry area by sweeping, mopping floors, and disinfecting sorting tables.
- Complying with other assigned duties including extended periods of standing, documentation review on paper and digital formats, and bending/lifting up to 50 lbs.
Candidate Profile
- Completion of High School or equivalent educational qualification.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control protocols.
- Familiarity with garment and linen care basics.
- Competence in operating commercial laundry equipment.
- Requirement to pass a clear Criminal Record Check and, if applicable, Vulnerable Sector Check before appointment.
- First Aid and CPR certifications are advantageous.
- Previous experience in retirement living or long-term care settings is considered a benefit.

- Hourly wage range approximately $16.75 to $18.77.
