Spiire is dedicated to enhancing the communities we serve, fostering opportunities for our employees and clients, and delivering value to all stakeholders. Our integrated team includes civil engineers, landscape architects, construction consultants, surveyors, town planners, urban designers, and water engineers, offering specialized services in the property and infrastructure sectors. With over 400 staff located across ten offices in Australia, including Canberra, we are one of the country's largest employee-owned property and infrastructure consultancies, trusted for over 40 years on local development projects.

Role Overview

The Canberra Landscape Architecture team is expanding due to a strong pipeline of diverse and challenging projects. This role involves managing and delivering multiple projects in the region, supporting the Team Lead with design guidance, and mentoring junior team members to promote the team's development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of projects from master planning to construction delivery, working under the Team Lead's supervision.
  • Participate in tender processes, including proposal development, design preparations, construction documentation, and site inspections.
  • Design various project types such as civic precincts, greenfield residential areas, commercial ventures, urban renewal initiatives, parklands, infrastructure projects, and integrated water-cycle management systems.
  • Assist the Team Lead with tender submissions, including proposal writing, fee structuring, and resource management for the team.
  • Collaborate closely with landscape architects, engineers, and other multidisciplinary professionals within the company.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members through mentoring.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience managing medium to large-scale public realm projects, including subdivisions, master planned communities, play spaces, streetscapes, and wetlands.
  • Strong commercial acumen with familiarity in contract conditions and procedures, and taking financial responsibility for projects.
  • Excellent proficiency in written communication and ability to handle complex reporting demands.
  • Competent using AutoCAD and relevant software; expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, is a significant advantage.
  • Registration with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) or progressing towards registration is preferred.

Inclusion and Support

Spiire promotes a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment where everyone can excel. Applications are encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, persons with disabilities, LGBTIQ+ community members, and all diverse backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments to accommodate candidates in the recruitment process can be arranged confidentially upon request.
