Position Summary

The Labourer/Sweeper will be responsible for executing a range of janitorial and light maintenance tasks based on verbal directions. This role requires physical work, both indoors and outdoors, including areas surrounding aircraft.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of hangars, offices, washrooms, and similar areas using appropriate equipment under general supervision.
  • Paint walls, floors, machinery, and equipment as assigned.
  • Clean dust from furniture, fixtures, and windows.
  • Maintain outdoor areas such as company grounds, yards, and parking lots, which includes snow and ice removal.
  • Dispose of garbage and assist with the removal of chemical waste safely.
  • Sweep ramp areas and unload vehicles.
  • Support maintenance tradespeople as needed.
  • Ensure work areas are free from debris and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Relocate office furniture or equipment as directed by supervisors within or outside the plant.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Capable of lifting loads ranging from 50 to 100 pounds periodically.
  • Proficient in using a variety of cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Adherence to all relevant federal health and safety legislation with a focus on personal and team safety.
  • Engagement in Continuous Improvement initiatives including Lean and 6S methodologies in the workplace.
  • Eligibility to meet criteria for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
