Position Summary
The Labourer/Sweeper will be responsible for executing a range of janitorial and light maintenance tasks based on verbal directions. This role requires physical work, both indoors and outdoors, including areas surrounding aircraft.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of hangars, offices, washrooms, and similar areas using appropriate equipment under general supervision.
- Paint walls, floors, machinery, and equipment as assigned.
- Clean dust from furniture, fixtures, and windows.
- Maintain outdoor areas such as company grounds, yards, and parking lots, which includes snow and ice removal.
- Dispose of garbage and assist with the removal of chemical waste safely.
- Sweep ramp areas and unload vehicles.
- Support maintenance tradespeople as needed.
- Ensure work areas are free from debris and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Relocate office furniture or equipment as directed by supervisors within or outside the plant.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Capable of lifting loads ranging from 50 to 100 pounds periodically.
- Proficient in using a variety of cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Adherence to all relevant federal health and safety legislation with a focus on personal and team safety.
- Engagement in Continuous Improvement initiatives including Lean and 6S methodologies in the workplace.
- Eligibility to meet criteria for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
