Role Overview
The Kitchen Steward position is a full-time, onsite role situated in Vijayawada. The individual in this role will ensure the kitchen remains clean and hygienic by performing tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning kitchen equipment, and sanitizing work zones. Additionally, they will assist food preparation and basic cooking as directed by supervisors, maintain organized utensils and ingredients, manage waste disposal, and monitor cleaning supplies inventory. Maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols while collaborating effectively with kitchen staff to guarantee smooth operations is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen area, including washing dishes and kitchen tools.
- Support food prep and simple cooking tasks under the guidance of chefs or supervisors.
- Ensure ingredients, kitchenware, and equipment are well-arranged and readily accessible.
- Oversee proper disposal of waste and manage cleaning supply inventory.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation policies in all activities.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen personnel to facilitate efficient service delivery.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Basic proficiency in food preparation and cooking to aid kitchen operations safely and efficiently.
- Experience or understanding of dishwashing and kitchen cleaning protocols, including sanitization and waste management.
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with chefs, service team, and peers.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction by maintaining a tidy and orderly kitchen environment.
- Strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and food handling standards, combined with strong attention to detail and dependability.
- Physical capability to stand for long hours, lift moderate loads, and thrive in a fast-moving kitchen setting.
- Prior exposure to commercial kitchens or hospitality work is advantageous but not obligatory.
