We are currently seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Head Office in Maynooth, County Kildare.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review and analyse project plans, specifications, and related documentation to produce detailed cost estimates.
- Compile tender submissions, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and procurement timelines.
- Engage with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to collect vital cost data.
- Determine and quantify factors influencing costs, such as production duration, materials, and labor expenses.
- Track market trends affecting materials, labor, and supply chain costs across Ireland and Europe.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and commercial teams during tender stages and after tender awarding.
- Evaluate and manage risk factors related to potential projects.
- Support value engineering and cost management during project implementations.
- Maintain and update a cost information database and contribute to reviews after project completion.
- Provide accurate input on construction estimates and cost plans to the project team.
- Prepare priced tenders precisely and ensure submission within deadlines.
- Carefully examine tender documentation and issue inquiries in alignment with deadlines.
- Manage and update estimating databases accounting for construction costs and material price changes.
- Assist in the preparation of pre and post tender meetings.
- Report weekly and monthly data to site teams, stakeholders, and partners.
- Uphold a professional company image in all public and stakeholder interactions.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the company as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over one year of relevant experience in estimating within the construction or manufacturing sectors.
- Good understanding of Irish construction standards, procurement procedures, and building regulations.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Causeway, Buildsoft, Cubit, or CostX, alongside Microsoft Excel.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
