Role Overview

The Image Editor plays a critical role in finalizing and enhancing images created by photographers and stylists in the studio environment, preparing them for publication on the Saks ecommerce platform. This position entails ensuring the highest quality standards for images, overseeing offshore retouching work, and employing advanced Photoshop skills to correct and perfect images by removing imperfections, managing backgrounds, and utilizing various retouching methods. Additionally, the role involves organizing and maintaining the studio’s image database and preparing images for production. The workflow is fast-paced compared to typical photographic settings.

Responsibilities

• Edit images utilizing advanced Photoshop capabilities.
• Perform quality assurance on images retouched offshore.
• Develop and optimize workflows through technological improvements such as scripting and Photoshop automation tools.
• Lead special projects aligned with company standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Computer Graphics, or Graphic Arts.
• Between 1 and 3 years of professional experience in image editing.
• Strong proficiency with Mac OS environment.
• Expertise in Photoshop and related image manipulation software.
• Knowledge of color theory, pre-press, and digital technology is advantageous.
• Advanced photo retouching abilities including complex selections, masking, background replacement, cropping, color correction, curves and levels adjustment, liquefying, compositing, and using history states.
• Experience with Apple scripting is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, and comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets.
• Physical capability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 6 hours.
