About The Role
As a Hydrographer at Hydro Tasmania, you will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and maintaining essential hydrometric data that supports operational decisions, flood prediction, regulatory adherence, and asset management. Reporting to the Remote Monitoring Supervisor, your duties will involve a mix of hands-on hydrographic fieldwork alongside technical troubleshooting and data processing. You will play a key role in promoting safety and quality while also assisting with project delivery and mentoring junior colleagues.

Compensation
The salary bracket ranges from $94,400 to $118,561 plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce top-quality hydrometric data through monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Install, operate, test, and commission remote monitoring equipment at Hydro Tasmania locations.
- Manage your workload, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to changing operational demands to deliver results on time.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering continuous improvement in hydrographic standards and performance.
Required Skills and Experience
- Possession of a Diploma in Hydrography or equivalent qualification, plus a Coxswain certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience in hydrographic fieldwork, including installing and maintaining monitoring instruments.
- Strong skills in fault diagnosis, equipment testing, and technical reporting.
- Competence in mentoring team members, managing workflow, and contributing to asset management and operational reliability.
- Physical ability to swim and perform demanding outdoor tasks, including working in and around aquatic settings and occasionally in remote locations.
