Role Overview

The Human Resource Officer oversees the full scope of HR and administrative duties, ensuring company policies align with Liquid Uganda's strategies. This role supports HR operations and ensures policies are communicated effectively and adhered to consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with all relevant HR laws and regulations within Uganda.
  • Regularly communicate updated HR policies and ensure staff adherence through education and distribution of the Employee Handbook.
  • Promote positive working relationships by supporting HR initiatives like meetings, social events, and workplace culture programs.
  • Manage recruitment processes including creating job adverts, publishing vacancies on platforms, screening candidates, and managing pre-employment documentation and verifications.
  • Ensure new employees undergo induction and are onboarded onto insurance and medical benefits promptly.
  • Organize exit interviews and handle employee administrative inquiries, providing feedback to management.
  • Oversee leave management by tracking leave requests and historical records, ensuring compliance with leave policies.
  • Accurately compile and review payroll-related data monthly.
  • Support job profiling and grading activities as assigned.
  • Coordinate employee wellness activities aligned with the organizational calendar and promote participation.
  • Collaborate on performance management processes, maintain documentation, and help coordinate staff training and development initiatives.
  • Handle HR and administrative third-party invoicing monthly, and ensure employees have valid IDs and necessary work tools.
  • Maintain office hygiene and a quality working environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in Human Resource Management or a related field from a recognized institution is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years’ professional experience in Human Resource Management environments is required.
  • Membership in the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda is preferred but not compulsory.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of Uganda’s labor laws.
  • Familiarity with best practices in Human Resources.
  • Ethical approach to HR duties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Strong counseling and advisory skills.
  • Leadership acumen and people management proficiency.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Accountabilities

  • Managing recruitment processes end-to-end.
  • Ensuring organizational regulatory compliance in HR matters.
  • Overseeing new employee onboarding.
  • Maintaining recruitment and training trackers and budgets.
  • Communicating HR policies and ensuring staff adherence.
  • Coordinating performance improvement plans.
