Role Overview
In the position of Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset, you will be a crucial yet often unseen contributor to maintaining a fresh, clean, and respectful living space for the residents. This role goes beyond routine cleaning; it supports the dignity, safety, and comfort of residents by ensuring a homely atmosphere.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver thorough and high-standard cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, communal spaces, laundry, and kitchen areas.
- Carefully manage laundering tasks including washing, folding, and returning clothing and linens.
- Label, mend, and maintain personal laundry items with attention and organization.
- Implement infection control practices and uphold health and safety standards.
- Foster warm, respectful interactions with residents, understanding and responding to their individual needs.
Work Schedule
This is a permanent full-time position based in Whangarei, operating on a rotating roster of five days on and two off, with shifts from 9:30am to 6:00pm, covering weekends as required.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience, ideally within healthcare or hospitality environments.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality work.
- Physically able and comfortable with standing work throughout shifts.
- Interest in aged care is valued; no prior experience is necessary as full training is provided.
