Job Summary
The Housekeeper, also known as Room Attendant, is an essential part of the hospitality staff, tasked with maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and a welcoming ambiance in guest rooms, common areas, and other designated hotel spaces. Their role significantly contributes to guest satisfaction and overall experience at the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and organize guest rooms following established protocols, including dusting, vacuuming, linen changing, and bed making.
- Sanitize bathroom areas thoroughly, attending to fixtures, surfaces, and provided amenities.
- Dust and clean furniture, surfaces, and decorative elements in guest rooms and public zones.
- Restock rooms with necessary toiletries, linens, and towels.
- Remove trash from guest areas and replace liners appropriately.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in rooms, hallways, and public spaces to maintain cleanliness.
- Identify and report maintenance problems to designated personnel promptly.
- Monitor lost and found items within guest and public areas and report these to supervisors.
- Interact courteously with guests, addressing requests and queries professionally.
- Ensure guests' privacy and adhere to security guidelines per hotel procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in housekeeping or similar roles is favorable.
- Keen attention to detail with knowledge of proper cleaning methods, products, and equipment use.
- Capable of working autonomously and efficiently to complete allocated rooms and housekeeping duties.
- Effective communication skills for guest and team interactions.
- Basic understanding of sanitation and safety standards.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts as required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The position involves physical labor including prolonged standing and walking, bending, climbing, pushing or pulling objects, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily indoors but may expose employees to various conditions such as chemicals, temperature extremes, odors, and noise. Adherence to safety protocols and use of protective gear is mandatory.
