Position Overview

The Hook Up Engineer applies their foundational knowledge in Hook Up engineering, working with moderate supervision to address straightforward Hook Up challenges. This role involves analyzing potential solutions employing standard methods and accumulating company and customer insights. The engineer considers key business factors and resolves routine problems by using their technical expertise, judgment, and established precedents.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and implement the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies along with procedures detailed in the Company Management System.
  • Engage in and offer field expertise for pre-engineering and pre-construction surveys.
  • Examine drawings for feasibility and identify issues requiring resolution.
  • Define discipline-specific scope of work, schedules, and specifications, ensuring clarity of deliverables.
  • Review material requisitions to ensure alignment with project specifications prior to procurement.
  • Create and distribute final Hook-Up construction work packages.
  • Track scope modifications and their inputs in project control systems like DTCMS/CAT.
  • Confirm availability of all engineering outputs—drawings, materials, procedures—necessary for Hook-Up execution.
  • Develop and evaluate hook-up task sheets.
  • Coordinate hook up activities effectively, ensuring sequencing aligns with other disciplines’ schedules.
  • Forecast resource requirements and manpower needs accurately.
  • Manage timely coordination and delivery of documentation, material, personnel, and vendors corresponding to the hook-up timeline.
  • Offer field supervision to guarantee adherence to Company’s specifications.
  • Align material logistics at yards with load-out plans and optimize shipments to offshore sites.
  • Support onshore and offshore project teams by traveling to various locations for coordination and execution efforts.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate project changes or growth during hook-up phases.
  • Participate in hazard identification (HAZID) sessions and accident/incident investigations, promptly relaying insights to project management and senior engineers.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including reports and checklists, chronicling hook-up activities and outcomes.
  • Provide regular progress briefings to stakeholders, highlighting milestones, challenges, and deviations.
  • Execute assigned hook-up tasks in compliance with schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Render technical support and advisory services during planning and execution stages.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and contractual commitments.
  • Contribute feedback and insights during project review meetings to enhance processes.
  • Oversee all hook-up tasks ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety policies, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate efficient hook-up operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in offshore hook-up operations within the EPCI sector.
  • Solid understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., API, ASME, IEC, NEC).
  • Robust analytical and technical troubleshooting abilities to address complex problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership within discipline, capable of mentoring junior or trainee engineers.
  • Strong project management and organizational aptitude, proficient in task prioritization and deadline adherence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to work autonomously or in team environments.
  • Certification in pertinent safety and environmental standards like OSHA or HSE is desirable.
