Head of Software Engineering

Role Overview

We are partnering with a growing AdTech company based in Dublin that is seeking its inaugural Head of Engineering. This leadership position blends hands-on technical work with team management and strategic development as the company scales its engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead and own the entire engineering function, guiding a current team of five engineers. Responsibilities include making key technical and architectural decisions, reviewing engineering practices, resolving blockers, and actively contributing code when appropriate. The role demands a hands-on player-coach approach rather than purely managerial oversight.

Technical Environment

The technology stack includes Go, TypeScript, React, Kubernetes/GKE, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and other tools. The company focuses heavily on future-ready engineering by integrating AI-native methodologies such as Claude Code and agentic development. Familiarity with and practical use of these AI technologies is essential.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate may currently be a Head of Engineering or a senior Tech Lead/Engineering Manager prepared to take full ownership of the engineering team and function. The position suits someone eager to influence the engineering culture and quality standards by leading through technical example and mentorship.

Work Location and Setup

The role is Dublin-based with a preference for hybrid working arrangements. However, strong candidates located outside Dublin may be considered for a more remote-friendly setup.

Additional Information

This position offers a salary range of €120,000 to €140,000 plus equity options. It is tailored for technical leaders passionate about scaling teams without imposing excessive process layers and who desire to leave a personal legacy on the company’s engineering operations.
