Head, Business Continuity & Threat Intelligence

Overview

The role entails leading and overseeing the business continuity management function within Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals Limited (DIL), fostering a top-tier BCM culture aligned with the Business Continuity Continuum of Time. The incumbent will ensure adherence to the Group's BCM framework, including policies, procedures, and tools, following industry best practices. This position advises senior leadership on identifying, assessing, and managing business continuity threats while raising awareness and preparedness among employees and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to mitigate and monitor risks as per Group Risk Policies.

Core Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an effective, auditable enterprise BCM governance framework congruent with regulatory and industry standards to prepare the organization for disruptions.
• Provide the Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO) with daily updates on emerging threats and vulnerabilities requiring immediate action.
• Develop, produce, update, and version control all BCM documentation including plans, emergency procedures, call trees, and test outcomes.
• Identify recovery team structures, ensure members understand their duties, and provide proactive training.
• Collaborate with departments to create and update disaster recovery (DR) plans for mission-critical systems and confirm internal recovery site functionality.
• Build strong working relationships with Business Continuity Coordinators.
• Lead the crisis management team during business disruptions, generate status reports on BCM progress, and notify the GCRO of incidents within one hour.
• Support recovery strategy development enabling rapid resumption of normal operations post-crisis.
• Report all detected and emerging business continuity threats, ensuring contingency plans address identified risks.
• Promote continuous BCM awareness to ensure organizational readiness against disruptive events.

Business Continuity Testing and Simulation

• Plan and manage all BCM tests across company functions.
• Ensure regular backup, storage, and testing of company files.
• Maintain protocols for testing call trees and recovery plans.
• Prepare for and facilitate BCM audits across departments.

Additional BCM Support

• Analyze regulatory and industry guidelines impact on the Group's BCP and DR frameworks and tools.
• Monitor implementation and timely closure of recommended risk mitigations, providing regular updates to the GCRO.

Reporting Duties

• Compile and submit periodic reports on BCM to EXCO and the Board, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Conduct daily emergency briefings with the GCRO.
• Track all BCM-related loss incidents and communicate key risks to the GCRO.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• HND or Bachelor's Degree in Risk, Insurance, IT, or Engineering.
• Master’s degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
• Certified Business Continuity Professional or Master Business Continuity Professional credential is advantageous.
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in risk management, insurance, or engineering within manufacturing or financial services sectors.
• Familiarity with information security, business continuity processes, and financial performance metrics.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
