Groundwater Modeller

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Groundwater Modeller to join our skilled team of hydrogeologists and groundwater modellers. This role offers the chance to work on a wide variety of national and international projects spanning multiple sectors such as mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and regulatory bodies to plan and define the scope of groundwater modelling projects.
• Develop and construct groundwater models tailored to project requirements that conform to industry standards and internal quality protocols.
• Perform numerical groundwater flow modelling to assist in impact assessments and water management decisions.
• Utilize specialized software including Algomesh, Groundwater Vistas, and Python to create and operate MODFLOW groundwater models.
• Conduct detailed history-matching and uncertainty analyses using tools such as PEST++IES.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams involving hydrogeology, surface water, ecology, and planning to deliver comprehensive water management strategies.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a tertiary qualification in GeoScience or an equivalent field.
• Have between 5 and 10 years of practical experience in groundwater modelling, preferably within consulting or settings that demand delivering model outcomes on time and budget.
• Demonstrate strong data handling and conceptualization capabilities.
• Hold a solid technical foundation in hydrogeology, groundwater modelling techniques, and uncertainty analysis processes, with proficiency in software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW, PEST and PEST++ suites, Leapfrog, and Python.
• Be knowledgeable about groundwater modelling frameworks compliant with Australian Groundwater Modelling Guidelines and GMDSI recommendations.
• Exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively within diverse project teams and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
