Role Summary

This position involves operating cylindrical and small surface grinders to manufacture product parts. The role requires self-inspection during operations and final inspection of parts to maintain process control. Strict adherence to health and safety practices with machinery is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cylindrical grinders and small surface grinders efficiently.
• Use manual machines such as drills, mills, broaches, and lathes to support production flexibility.
• Perform de-burring and washing of parts as needed throughout the manufacturing process.
• Review and refine equipment setups, working methods, and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections of parts to ensure compliance with drawings and requirements.
• Keep and maintain equipment efficiency records and perform routine machine maintenance and preventative tasks.
• Ensure workplace safety and cleanliness, including participation in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) activities and risk assessments.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes.
• Engage in training activities both for personal development and to mentor peers and apprentices.
• Support quality system implementation and improvements.
• Flexibly work in other production areas as needed.

Education and Experience

• Qualified in material removal with expertise in cylindrical grinding.
• Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in manufacturing, NC/HMC, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with manufacturing drawings and production processes.
• Strong numeracy and mathematical capabilities.
• Competence with manual machinery operation, including jib crane usage.
