Job description
Position Overview
The role of a General Worker within Environmental Services involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in designated areas to uphold the health, safety, and morale of patients, visitors, and staff members. Your efforts contribute directly to the well-being and recovery of patients by creating a safe, hygienic, and pleasant environment, minimizing disruption to others. This position occasionally requires handling infectious materials with appropriate protective equipment and frequent exposure to water and strong disinfecting chemicals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and servicing of assigned areas to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Handle materials that may be infectious while following safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Use disinfectants and cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
- Support a clean, attractive, and secure environment that aids in patient recovery.
Candidate Profile
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent General Education Development (GED) credentials required, or comparable work experience.
- Proficient verbal, reading, and writing communication skills.
- Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles is advantageous.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in French, are valued and considered an asset.
Work Schedule
- This is a full-time permanent position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits
- The pay scale ranges from $20.74 to $21.56 per hour.
- Eligible candidates may receive a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, travel insurance, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
