Job description
Position Overview
The General Utility role is responsible for ensuring kitchen workspaces, utensils, equipment, and plateware are maintained in a clean, hygienic, and organized state. The position involves supporting food preparation activities and promoting a workplace culture aligned with the company’s purpose, vision, mission, and core values.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food remnants from dishes before loading them into the dishwasher (approximately 50% of duties).
- Wash pots, pans, and trays manually or using cleaning machines (around 15%).
- Carry out assigned food prep tasks (about 10%).
- Collect and dispose of trash by transporting it to dumpster locations (around 10%).
- Clean surfaces including tables, walls, refrigeration units, cooking appliances, and floors (approximately 5%).
- Sanitize garbage bins and other trash containers (close to 5%).
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle dishwashing machines (around 5%).
- Lift and carry cases weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
- Place items such as plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves situated at varied heights.
- Work primarily indoors (about 90%), with occasional outdoor duties (about 10%).
- Operate effectively in hot and humid conditions and respond promptly to emergencies to ensure safety.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to read and understand operational and maintenance manuals, contracts, and instructions.
- Proficiency in writing reports and corresponding within the organization.
- Effective verbal communication skills for interaction with teams and customers.
- Capability to solve practical problems and follow complex or varied instructions.
- Physical demands include frequent sitting, walking, talking, hearing, handling objects, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting items up to 40 pounds regularly, and standing for long periods.
- Work environment may include wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise levels.
- Vision requirements include close focus and adjustment capacity.
- Mental requirements involve adaptability, teamwork, handling fast-paced settings, and effective communication in verbal and written forms.
Work Conditions
