About the Role

We are looking for a skilled General Practitioner to deliver exceptional, patient-centered primary healthcare within a collaborative and supportive general practice setting in New Zealand. The ideal candidate values building strong, trusted partnerships with patients, their families, and the care team, offering comprehensive, culturally sensitive, and community-oriented medical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide thorough primary care including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Manage urgent medical cases by assessing, stabilising, treating, and appropriately referring patients as needed.
  • Support preventative healthcare efforts such as screenings, risk assessments, immunisations, health education, and advising on lifestyle choices.
  • Deliver continuous care for patients with chronic, complex, or long-term medical conditions.
  • Coordinate patient care effectively with secondary healthcare services, community providers, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), and other relevant professionals.
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, administrative personnel, and the multidisciplinary practice team.
  • Maintain meticulous clinical documentation, including clinical notes, referrals, and patient records.
  • Engage in peer review, clinical audits, continuing medical education, and activities aimed at quality improvement.

Candidate Requirements

  • Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Vocational registration or eligibility for vocational registration in General Practice is preferred.
  • Fellowship or progress toward Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience delivering comprehensive primary care across acute, chronic, preventive, and community health domains.
  • Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, interpersonal skills, and cultural competence.
  • Capability to function well within a multidisciplinary general practice team.
  • Dedication to providing high-quality, patient-focused, and community-oriented medical care.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary ranging from NZD 250,000 to 350,000 or higher.
