Job Overview
This role supports the operational goals by contributing to daily production targets in a food manufacturing environment. The General Operator reports to the Shift Supervisor and plays a key role in ensuring product quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals related to output, waste reduction, yield, efficiency, and start-up times.
- Maintain accurate production records at designated intervals including tracking downtime, waste, process data, and non-conformances.
- Complete all quality assurance tests following established protocols while maintaining traceability as per system standards.
- Manage production tools, probes, and machine parts according to metal detection and foreign matter control procedures, including reporting and replacing missing items.
- Adhere to all food safety requirements during task execution.
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and hygiene of the workspace and machinery.
- Operate production equipment strictly following training and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Comply with hygiene and safety regulations at all times.
- Contribute suggestions and initiatives to improve or adapt evolving processes.
- Work within the business’s defined quality standards to produce products that meet company and customer specifications, embodying a "get it right first time" philosophy.
- Notify line management promptly about any maintenance concerns.
- Maintain communication with colleagues to secure continuous material flow, minimizing stoppages.
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet production orders, especially during equipment breakdowns.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to foster career progression.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of food safety (HACCP) and health and safety procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
- Minimum of six months’ experience in an FMCG manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to work demands.
- Understanding of business objectives and proactive mindset to contribute to success.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be accepted based on relevant experience and training.
