Gardener

Position Overview

The Gardener position at Westin Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar involves maintaining the aesthetic appeal and health of hotel grounds, including lawns, flower beds, trees, and other landscaping features. This role requires diligent upkeep, repair, and installation of plants and irrigation systems to ensure a pleasant outdoor environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the condition of property grounds to maintain a visually appealing landscape.
• Clean, repair, and replace elements such as fountains and planters.
• Plant new flowers, bulbs, trees, shrubs, and grass as needed.
• Water and tend to flower beds, baskets, and boxes by weeding, trimming, and general maintenance.
• Transplant and replace trees, flowers, and shrubs to sustain healthy foliage.
• Prune and trim trees and shrubs to promote growth and safety.
• Manually trim and edge grass in areas inaccessible by mower.
• Conduct lawn care activities including mowing, edging, leaf raking, and other maintenance tasks.
• Install, maintain, and manage irrigation systems to ensure adequate watering.
• Collect and dispose of trash from exterior bins on the property.
• Operate vehicles and machinery such as dump trucks, tractors, and utility vehicles for transporting materials and equipment.
• Clean, refuel, and maintain all equipment after each use.
• Adhere to company safety and security policies, reporting hazards or accidents promptly.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect company assets.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve common landscaping goals.
• Perform routine inspections of tools and machines to identify defects.
• Stand, walk, or sit for long periods during shifts; handle physical demands like lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating uneven terrain.
• Participate in ice and snow removal and ice management, if necessary.
• Carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• At least one year of experience in a similar landscaping or groundskeeping role.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• No supervisory experience necessary.
