Job Overview
We are seeking a Functional Safety Manager to lead safety compliance initiatives across diverse semiconductor and automotive projects. This key role involves oversight of functional safety processes, ensuring adherence to ISO 26262 and related standards, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and providing technical leadership throughout the product safety lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer functional safety efforts across semiconductor and automotive projects guaranteeing compliance with ISO 26262 and related requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to define system architectures aligned with safety standards.
- Develop, tailor, and implement comprehensive functional safety plans tailored to each project’s requirements.
- Manage safety evaluations including FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and compile thorough Safety Case documentation that meets regulatory standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to engineering teams on functional safety standards and best practices.
- Act as the interface among internal teams, customers, and external safety certification agencies.
- Drive continuous improvements in safety processes and tooling within the organization.
- Organize and conduct required confirmation reviews ensuring all milestones and objectives are met.
- Oversee third-party safety audits and coordinate with external evaluators and stakeholders.
- Assess customer safety systems and guide the selection of optimal safety architectures for projects.
- Serve as the gatekeeper during all safety lifecycle phases ensuring compliance and high-quality safety outputs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ experience related to functional safety in semiconductor or automotive domains focused on ISO 26262 or IEC61508 standards and safety-critical systems.
- Practical expertise in generating safety documentation such as Safety Cases, DFA, FMEDA, and FTA.
- Demonstrated leadership managing cross-functional and safety-critical projects.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong communication abilities, customer-oriented focus, and excellent documentation competency.
- Comprehensive understanding of product development lifecycles, especially systems, electrical, or software development.
- Self-driven, creative problem solver adaptable to evolving challenges.
- Availability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time.
- ISO 26262 certification is advantageous.
- Experience with Ansys Medini Analyze software is beneficial.
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 is a plus.
- Familiarity with ASPICE, CMMI, and cybersecurity standards like ISO 21434 is desirable.
