Full Time Utility Meter Reader

Job Overview

We are seeking full-time Utility Meter Readers for our location in Punta Gorda, FL. No prior experience is necessary as paid training will be provided. This role suits individuals who prefer working independently and enjoy spending their workday outdoors.

Responsibilities

Meter Readers are responsible for accurately recording water consumption for residential and commercial customers to support precise billing. This includes performing visual inspections to evaluate meter condition and identifying any observable issues or defects.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Successful completion of pre-employment screenings such as drug testing, background checks, and driving record verification
• Ability to walk 10 to 15 miles daily while maintaining accuracy in meter readings
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

Working Conditions and Schedule

• Work hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Position primarily outdoors during daylight hours
• Minimal weekend work except for on-call duties or during peak workloads
• Work independently with little supervision, allowing for personal schedule management during the workday

Knowledge and Skills Development

• Completion of company training with successful passing of written and practical tests
• Understanding and application of safety protocols related to vehicle operation and fieldwork
