Job description
Company Overview
Entangl is pioneering an operating system tailored for vital infrastructure, emphasizing data center environments. Our platform consolidates disjointed blueprints, documentation, telemetry feeds, alarms, operational procedures, and institutional knowledge into an integrated system that helps teams grasp current conditions, spot issues, and manage facilities safely and efficiently.
Role Overview
We are seeking an outstanding Frontend Engineer to create user interfaces that facilitate interaction with complex physical infrastructure. This role demands more than translating design files into components; the ideal candidate must deeply understand user needs, critically evaluate workflows, distill complex data, make sound product decisions, and fully own the customer-facing output.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop interactive diagrams representing electrical and mechanical systems.
- Create navigation interfaces for intricate data center infrastructure.
- Implement real-time monitoring for telemetry, alarms, anomalies, and operational issues.
- Design workflows for diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
- Develop tools for generating and executing operational procedures.
- Build interfaces to validate asset data and customer documentation.
- Design dashboards serving operators, engineers, executives, and clients.
- Create deployment and configuration tools enabling rapid Entangl setup across multiple sites.
- Develop adaptable systems for various customers, facilities, asset categories, and data feed types.
- Build internal productivity tools that enhance team speed without compromising quality.
Ownership & Expectations
- Deliver polished, production-grade frontend features from concept through deployment.
- Manage entire user journeys rather than isolated tickets.
- Collaborate closely with customers and domain specialists to understand operational challenges.
- Translate intricate engineering concepts into simple, intuitive interfaces.
- Make informed product and design decisions when specs are incomplete.
- Create reusable components and systems while avoiding unnecessary abstraction.
- Enhance frontend performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and reliability.
- Proactively identify and fix inconsistencies prior to user discovery.
- Conduct thorough testing across realistic customer scenarios.
- Work cross-functionally with backend, AI, data, controls, and product engineering teams.
- Improve mechanisms enabling customer-specific features without fragmenting the core product.
- Elevate the overall quality standards of the user experience.
- Contribute positively to the codebase, product, and engineering procedures.
Success Criteria
- Deliver solutions that users can understand and operate with minimal assistance.
- Simplify complex workflows effectively.
- Ensure features are dependable in real-world operational settings.
- Identify product issues independently, before being prompted.
- Maintain rapid development pace without sacrificing quality.
- Develop systems that expedite future enhancements.
- Accommodate customer-specific needs without compromising the main product.
- Improve overall engineering effectiveness through introduced standards and systems.
- Receive positive user recognition for delivered enhancements.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and craft excellence.
- Exhibits strong product mindset extending beyond immediate tasks.
- Capable of navigating ambiguous problems from design through deployment.
- Autonomous and proactive in decision-making.
- Focuses on user goals and challenges requirements that lack rationale.
- Balances swift progress with high-quality output.
- Tests edge cases and realistic scenarios, not just ideal workflows.
- Accepts responsibility for feature failures and communicates clearly.
- Thrives under demanding, high-standard environments.
- Prioritizes exceptional product quality over personal scope protection.
- Relentlessly resourceful when documentation or tools fall short.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with component-based frontend frameworks.
- Development of complex, stateful web applications.
- Design and maintenance of component and state management architectures.
- Responsive design techniques and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.
- Optimizing frontend performance and reliability.
- Knowledge of automated testing and disciplined manual quality assurance.
- Working with or creating design systems.
Bonus but not required: familiarity with interactive diagrams, graph visualization, real-time data telemetry, industrial software, digital twins, CAD tools, geospatial systems, or complex enterprise applications.
Product Judgment
Effective frontend engineers at Entangl not only code but also analyze features in terms of user decision-making needs, information prioritization, removal of unnecessary elements, and robustness against incomplete/incorrect data. They consider usage across diverse facilities and pressure scenarios and ensure deliverables are truly complete and reliable.
Work Environment
Our team is ambitious, direct, and accountable. Engineers understand customers deeply, value company reputation, engage with commercial outcomes, and embrace full ownership. Product thinking and engineering are integrated, promoting urgency with sound judgment and open, direct communication.
Application Requirements
- Describe the best frontend product or feature you have personally developed.
- Highlight the specific components or areas you owned.
- Discuss technical or product challenges encountered.
- Explain a time when you had to devise solutions with incomplete requirements.
- Share an example of identifying frontend issues before clients or managers noticed them.
- Present a user interface you admire and explain its design excellence.
- Indicate which Entangl product area you would be most interested in building.
Include links to your work, code, or product examples if available. We seek evidence of craftsmanship, speed, judgment, initiative, and elevated standards.
