Role Overview
Join Field AI as a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Singapore, actively leading the deployment and operational integration of autonomous systems in real customer environments. This position combines engineering proficiency with innovative problem-solving to ensure systems function effectively from day one, while facilitating continuous improvements driven by real-world performance feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive deployment process of autonomous robotic systems across various client sites.
- Perform thorough configuration and testing of systems under authentic operational conditions to guarantee functionality and reliability.
- Rapidly diagnose and fix technical issues to sustain operational availability and mission success.
- Collect and evaluate field data to highlight areas requiring system enhancement and coordinate with internal teams to implement improvements.
- Develop and maintain tools for monitoring system health and diagnosing potential failures over time.
- Partner with client teams to provide training and support, ensuring operators reach full operational competence.
- Effectively communicate complex engineering concepts in accessible terms to support workflow adoption.
- Advocate on behalf of customers by relaying field insights to product development and engineering units.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across software, hardware, and AI research to create unified, scalable deployment solutions.
- Contribute to documentation and creation of scalable deployment strategies for future rollouts.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical expertise.
- Two to three years of experience in software engineering and systems integration specifically within the field robotics sector.
- Proven expertise deploying complex technical systems on-site and managing their operational lifecycle.
- Technical proficiency in Python, C++, Git, and Robot Operating System (ROS).
- Experience with Linux-based environments, container technologies, and cloud infrastructures.
- Strong skills in troubleshooting across software, hardware, and network layers.
- Proactive self-starter capable of thriving in fast-moving and uncertain contexts.
Additional Assets
- Experience managing mission-critical systems used in real-life applications.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Wrike, or Confluence.
- Demonstrated ability to interact directly with customers under demanding circumstances, translating needs into actionable technical solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel and be present onsite at client locations when required.
