About Cohere
Cohere is a pioneering enterprise AI company focused on delivering secure, advanced foundational AI models and comprehensive products tailored to solve practical business challenges. Our mission is to facilitate broad adoption of AI by developing frontier models for enterprise use, supported by a passionate team of researchers, engineers, and designers distributed globally.
About North Platform
North is Cohere's innovative AI workspace designed to transform how organizations engage with AI. It provides a secure, customizable platform that integrates AI agents within corporate workflows while ensuring data confidentiality and compliance, connecting AI capabilities with workplace tools seamlessly.
Role Overview
This role offers a distinctive opportunity to influence enterprise AI deployment by bridging our core North product with client engineering teams. You'll be integral in addressing complex business issues and embedding AI solutions securely across sectors like finance, healthcare, and telecommunications. Your focus will be on designing and implementing agentic workflows powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with enterprise clients to convert complex, high-impact business problems into clearly defined agentic workflows with measurable criteria.
- Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of AI agents that interact with tools, APIs, and sensitive data, ensuring enterprise-level reliability and performance.
- Develop features for the North AI workspace platform throughout its product lifecycle from concept through production.
- Manage end-to-end use cases, adapting to varied technical areas as required to optimize solutions, including frontend development when necessary.
- Contribute to shared frameworks and best practices to standardize quality delivery across teams.
- Clarify ambiguous requirements, foster alignment, and elevate engineering quality organization-wide.
- Travel up to 20–40% to client sites for collaboration and project delivery.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience developing and deploying high-quality, production-grade software using Python with an emphasis on clean, testable, scalable, and observable code.
- Experience building and operating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and complex agentic applications, including multi-step planning agents using techniques such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
- Strong knowledge of the large language model ecosystem, including frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration tools.
- Skilled in designing robust evaluation frameworks to assess agents across metrics like accuracy, safety, and latency beyond experimental trials.
- Direct experience engaging with enterprise clients, leading technical discussions, and translating ambiguous business goals into detailed technical requirements.
- Track record of owning project scopes and delivering solutions end-to-end in dynamic environments.
- Ability to adapt and perform well amid shifting priorities and fast-paced work settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience defining architectural standards for AI and agentic systems within distributed teams.
- Flexibility to contribute to frontend or other unfamiliar technical domains when required.
- Background working in regulated or sensitive industries such as finance, healthcare, or telecommunications.
- Knowledge of enterprise security, compliance, and audit processes related to AI systems.
