Overview
The Food Runner role at The Cooper entails ensuring consistent upkeep of tables, managing smooth service flow, and supporting servers in the dining area. Responsibilities include delivering meals, explaining dishes to guests, providing tableside service, monitoring guest satisfaction, and aiding kitchen operations to expedite orders. The candidate must be courteous, attentive, professional, and have thorough knowledge of the food and beverage offerings. Communication and teamwork skills are essential to maintain efficient, high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities
- Follow all Service, Food, Beverage, and Wine manuals pertinent to the restaurant.
- Complete all assigned side work tasks at the designated station.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings and familiarize oneself with new menu items.
- Warmly greet guests and ensure professional and courteous service at all times.
- Describe daily dinner specials and menu modifications as needed.
- Answer guest inquiries about menu items, wine selections, and other relevant topics.
- Collaborate closely with servers to fulfill guest requests and requirements.
- Understand orders thoroughly including any changes, dietary restrictions, or allergies.
- Support kitchen staff by expediting food delivery to the dining area.
- Stay informed of all pending orders and table statuses to ensure timely service.
- Use appropriate position identification and service scripts consistently.
- Maintain expediter station supplies such as plates, wipes, and doilies throughout service periods.
- Ensure food preparation and presentation meet the restaurant’s quality standards.
- Keep the dining room and service stations clean and safe at all times.
- Comply with all relevant health, safety, and labor laws and regulations.
Additional Duties
The role may include other tasks assigned by management based on business needs and operational requirements.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the workplace's primary language.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math and computational abilities.
- Fundamental computer literacy.
- Knowledge of correct table settings and service ware usage.
- Ability to clearly describe menu items, prices, and preparation methods.
- Skill in suggestive selling techniques to promote house specialties.
- Familiarity with Food Runner/Back Server service guidelines and restaurant manuals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of menu products and specifications.
