Floorman

Role Overview

The Floorman, reporting directly to the Assistant Driller, plays a vital role on the rig floor by handling tubulars and drilling tools using specialized equipment. This position also involves cooperation with the Driller and Assistant Driller to ensure smooth and safe drilling operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure personal and team safety during all rig floor and drilling package activities.
• Maintain physical conditions of work areas and equipment through planned inspections and documentation.
• Perform daily inspections of critical drilling equipment such as tongs, slips, elevators, and safety/snub lines.
• Promptly report or correct any identified defects or anomalies.
• Maintain clear communication and understanding of instructions from the Driller or Assistant Driller.
• Work collaboratively within the team and understand responsibilities related to well control.
• Conduct routine daily maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment following permit protocols.
• Coordinate with the Driller or Assistant Driller before undertaking any maintenance or repair work.
• Remain vigilant to hazardous situations and promote a safety-focused work environment, including training newcomers.
• Keep the Driller continuously informed of personal location and ongoing duties.
• Provide thorough handovers to relief personnel at the end of each shift.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of all drilling areas.
• Support the Derrickman and Assistant Driller in equipment repair and upkeep.
• Prepare and maintain drilling equipment, pipes, and casings including cleaning, greasing, and painting.
• Assist with mast operations and the screwing/unscrewing of the drill string during tripping.
• Operate Man-lift (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) upon training and certification.
• Support Derrickman in mast and mud tank operations.
• Work under supervision on BOP, Wellhead, and mud pumps.

Safety Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to the company's QA & HSE safety policies.
• Report potential hazards to the Driller promptly.
• Participate actively in safety meetings, drills, training, and observation programs.
• Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems and safety procedures within their discipline.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Technical knowledge including manual handling, banksman and slinger awareness.
• Basic understanding of rig components and drilling processes.
