Job Summary
This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across all floor surfaces and restrooms, promoting a safe and welcoming environment for customers. The associate will contribute to customer retention by ensuring consistent compliance with company hygiene and safety standards, valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive team atmosphere.
Key Duties
- Maintain orderly and hazard-free conditions in sales floors, liquor stores, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms by operating floor care machinery and appropriate chemical tools to sweep, vacuum, spot clean carpets, empty trash, and deep clean restrooms.
- Create an inviting atmosphere that makes customers feel valued and supported, providing product assistance to boost confidence and loyalty.
- Adhere strictly to company guidelines to uphold safety, food handling, sanitation standards, and productivity targets within the store environment.
- Comply with regulations related to food safety, USDA, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and DOA requirements, efficiently manage product recalls and withdrawals to prevent customer access to affected items.
- Support safety initiatives by following protocols, inspecting for hazards, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents, and maintaining awareness of security concerns such as theft or fraud.
- Ensure wage and hour policies are followed, cultivate a safety-conscious culture, verify necessary safety training and Personal Protective Equipment usage among associates, and report or remediate equipment hazards.
- Perform additional assigned duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 0 to 3 years of relevant experience; supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background evaluation.
- Possess strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
- Preferred bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The job involves extensive standing, walking, manual tasks, and repetitive movements, including the use of hands and feet.
- Tasks require reaching, carrying/pushing loads up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally lifting up to 250 lbs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and climbing up to 30 feet.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor settings, both cold and heated, with varying humidity levels and slippery or cluttered floors.
- Regular contact with hazardous equipment, cleaning chemicals, dust, fumes, and potential irritants.
- Usage of cleaning and office equipment such as registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, material handling tools, and safety gear including goggles, gloves, and back braces.
Schedule and Travel
- Varied shifts with occasional travel but no overnight stays.
