Overview
Storm Recruitment is seeking a skilled Fleet Operations Specialist to join their transport division in Wexford, Ireland. The successful candidate will assist the Fleet Transport Manager in efficiently planning and coordinating drivers, vehicles, and trailers to ensure smooth fleet operations that meet company standards, compliance, and operational demand.
Key Duties
- Organize and schedule drivers, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), and trailers to achieve optimal fleet utilization.
- Monitor compliance with driver hours, breaks, and applicable driving-time laws.
- Track real-time locations of vehicles and trailers within the fleet.
- Ensure the fleet is adequately equipped and resourced to fulfill operational needs.
- Collaborate with transport planning teams to manage fleet capacity effectively.
- Oversee vehicle performance, conduct audits, and maintain compliance.
- Guarantee secure loading procedures and maintenance of necessary transport documentation.
- Support adherence to Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS), and transport-related legislation.
- Partner with driver trainers and management to assess and address training needs.
- Communicate proactively with drivers to provide support and resolve issues.
- Investigate any compliance or operational concerns promptly and implement solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in fleet safety, efficiency, and overall performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in transport planning, fleet management, logistics, or related fields.
- Previous involvement in driver coordination or management.
- Thorough understanding of transport legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong geographical knowledge covering Ireland and Europe.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication abilities.
- Proficient in IT and experienced with transport planning software tools.
- Possession of an HGV license is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Relevant qualifications in transport or logistics are advantageous.
