Role Overview: Fleet Officer
The Fleet Officer is accountable for inspecting and testing vehicles pre- and post-maintenance to verify proper repairs and adherence to standards. This role includes overseeing spare parts usage, collaborating on maintenance procedure improvements, supervising technicians, and ensuring accurate documentation and training on maintenance practices.
Key Duties
- Conduct vehicle tests before maintenance to determine repair needs
- Monitor repair progress ensuring spare parts are used judiciously
- Collaborate with maintenance management to enhance checklists and routines
- Visit Authorized Service Workshops to confirm maintenance meets MAX standards
- Inspect and test vehicles after maintenance to confirm satisfactory repairs
- Support vehicle refurbishment assessments using standardized checklists
- Assess spare parts quality for refurbishment suitability
- Ensure post-refurbishment inspections meet set standards
- Coach technicians on best maintenance practices
- Verify proper completion of job cards for vehicles undergoing maintenance or refurbishment
- Organize ongoing training sessions for technician skill development
Required Qualifications and Experience
- OND in any Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering
- At least 2 years' experience as a vehicle technician or in fleet management
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Inventory Control principles
- Proficiency in MS Office or Google Workspace applications
- Strong understanding of fleet management operations
- Analytical thinking with high attention to detail and confidentiality
