Job description
Position Summary
The role of Firestop Inspector at Bureau Veritas Saudi Arabia involves overseeing and verifying firestop installations on building and infrastructure projects throughout the Kingdom. This position ensures conformity with approved drawings, UL-certified firestop systems, related codes, standards, and project requirements.
Primary Duties
- Examine and interpret approved construction drawings, specifications, UL-listed firestop systems, and applicable codes and standards.
- Confirm correct selection and proper installation of approved firestop materials compliant with project specifications.
- Inspect firestop installations to verify adherence to manufacturer specifications and approved systems.
- Provide guidance and supervision to contractors and site staff on proper firestop installation techniques.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify defects, deviations, or non-compliance issues.
- Prepare and submit Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) as required.
- Collaborate with consultants and clients during inspections, contributing to the resolution of any inspection remarks.
- Ensure that support systems and related fabrications meet approved drawings and standards.
- Document inspection findings thoroughly through reports and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate with multiple project stakeholders to guarantee compliance and meet quality expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of UL Firestop Inspector Certification.
- Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field.
- At least five years of professional experience in firestop inspection, installation, quality assurance/control, or passive fire protection on construction sites.
- Comprehensive knowledge of firestop systems and fire-resistant assemblies.
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures and construction quality management systems.
- Familiarity with MEP penetrations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and low-current systems.
- Well-versed in safety regulations, risk assessment methods, and safety management practices.
- Strong skills in inspection, report writing, communication, and coordination.
Technical Expertise
- Experienced in inspecting fire-rated walls, floors, shaft walls, expansion joints, and curtain wall perimeter fire barriers.
- Extensive knowledge of firestop materials, UL-listed assemblies, passive fire protection needs, and construction quality standards.
- Familiar with inspection protocols relevant to firestop systems.
