Freedom Lifestyle Villages is a New Zealand-based operator specializing in lifestyle villages for those over 50, offering bespoke homes in secure, professionally managed developments located across various desirable areas nationwide. Current operations include villages in Pāpāmoa, Cambridge, Matamata, Rotorua, and Ravenswood near Christchurch, with additional developments underway in Ashburton, Lincoln, and Masterton. The company aims to expand further by establishing 10 to 12 new villages over the coming five years. Its growth strategy is well supported by the Singapore-based private equity group AGP, which holds a majority stake and has provided substantial funding for development projects.
Role Summary
Operating from Tauranga and reporting directly to the General Manager of Finance, this role combines financial management, business partnership, and commercial analysis to support strategic decision-making. The role blends technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen, acting as a trusted adviser for management teams by delivering financial reporting, forecasting, and analyzing performance metrics that influence tangible business results.
Key Duties
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts alongside detailed performance reports.
- Interpret financial results and provide insightful commentary on main business drivers.
- Assist in annual budgeting processes, routine forecasting updates, and development of long-term financial models.
- Perform thorough financial and operational analyses, including preparing business cases and evaluating investment opportunities.
- Partner closely with operational managers to question assumptions and offer proactive financial guidance.
- Create and maintain reports on key performance indicators and dashboards to track business metrics.
- Champion improvements in finance-related processes and enhance system reporting efficiency.
- Support activities related to month-end and year-end reporting obligations.
Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant credentials (such as CA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Several years of relevant experience in comparable accounting or financial analyst roles.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analytical thinking.
- Effective communicator capable of interacting confidently with finance and non-finance personnel.
- Strong interest in process optimization and familiarity or enthusiasm for emerging artificial intelligence tools in finance.
