This Finance Director role transcends traditional boundaries: you will serve as a critical business ally to the Managing Director, influencing strategy, enhancing operations, and driving growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and nurture the finance department, ensuring excellence in financial reporting, controls, governance, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement finance strategies aligned with overall business goals.
  • Perform duties as Senior Accounting Officer in accordance with HMRC standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive management of working capital, cash flow, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Deliver insightful commercial analysis to support performance improvements and strategic choices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Director to address complex cross-functional challenges.
  • Champion operational enhancement projects across various divisions of the business.
  • Communicate financial and operational results effectively to senior leadership and shareholders.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to increase efficiency, profitability, and long-term business success.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant with established experience as a Finance Director in multi-site retail or consumer sectors.
  • In-depth expertise in financial control, reporting, governance, cash flow management, financial planning & analysis, and working capital administration.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable business decisions.
  • Capability and willingness to operate beyond conventional finance functions, taking accountability for broader business challenges.
  • Confidence to influence at board level and engage senior stakeholders with constructive challenges.
  • Resilience and decisiveness in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
  • A proactive and solution-driven approach to complex issues.
  • An ability to cultivate trust and act as a true strategic partner to the Managing Director.
