Role Overview

The Field Enumerator position is a full-time on-site role located in Nairobi. This role is responsible for collecting reliable and accurate data critical for research and analytics projects. Responsibilities include conducting surveys and interviews, administering questionnaires, recording responses correctly using digital or manual instruments, and visiting assigned locations to engage respondents appropriately. The role requires maintaining ethical handling and confidentiality of information.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys and interviews to collect data efficiently and professionally.
• Administer questionnaires and ensure precise recording of respondents’ answers.
• Visit specified locations and engage participants respectfully during data collection.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards regarding participant information.
• Verify and cross-check data collected to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Report any issues or obstacles encountered during fieldwork to supervisors.
• Assist with basic data entry tasks as needed.
• Participate actively in training sessions and provide suggestions to improve data collection tools and methodologies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong analytical skills for accurate recording, verification, and interpretation of data.
• Effective communication skills to conduct interviews, explain objectives, and engage participants in a courteous manner.
• Capability to troubleshoot and adapt quickly to fieldwork challenges and dynamic on-site conditions.
• Customer service abilities to professionally interact with respondents and maintain good stakeholder relationships.
• Aptitude to quickly learn new data collection tools and support peer training.
• Attention to detail with proficiency in basic computer and mobile data entry.
• Familiarity with survey applications and the ability to work within diverse communities.
• Educational background such as a diploma or degree in social sciences, statistics, business, or related disciplines preferred.
• Prior experience in field research or as a data enumerator is advantageous.
