About EAII Advisors and Evidence Action

EAII Advisors, the technical partner of Evidence Action in India, supports state governments in implementing evidence-based public health programs such as safe drinking water initiatives and school and Anganwadi-based National Deworming Day and iron and folic acid supplementation. Operating across 10 states, EAII Advisors collaborates with ministries of health, education, water, and women and child development to alleviate health burdens in impoverished communities and promote long-term wellbeing for children and families.

Evidence Action is a global organization delivering data-driven interventions at scale, working in 11 countries with a team of over 900 people. Their programs include Deworm the World, Safe Water Now, and the Accelerator initiative focused on innovative global health solutions.

Role Overview

The Field Coordinator reports to the District Coordinator and works closely with the state team to support the implementation of the India Safe Water program at the sub-district level. Responsibilities include government advocacy, stakeholder coordination, and overseeing water treatment site operations. The position requires frequent travel to assigned regions and direct interaction with various government officials and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and build the capacity of sub-district/block/mandal officials to manage program implementation independently.
  • Assist government units in formulating water quality policies and establishing sustainable program practices.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with senior officials in sub-district/block/mandal administrations, acting as a recognized resource with prior approval from supervisors.
  • Represent EAII in dealings with contractors and community engagement teams informing local populations about water treatment devices.
  • Lead training sessions and sensitization programs for government officials, community stakeholders, and site personnel regarding water treatment operations.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on water treatment technology performance for state governments and Jal Jeevan Mission.
  • Coordinate effective collaboration among stakeholders including contracted vendors, community leaders, and members.
  • Ensure suppliers and contractors fulfill contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Support program staff by performing duties assigned by senior coordinators.
  • Assist senior state program coordinators in all phases of the program: water point identification, device installation, operation, and vendor coordination.
  • Travel regularly (around 15 working days per month) to designated locations as per organizational policies.
  • Facilitate access to water treatment sites for suppliers, contractors, consultants, data firms, and leadership teams.
  • Support the collection and management of program monitoring data through site visits, survey form completion, coordination with data collection firms, and gathering administrative data from government partners.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with government officials in Water or Health sectors at field, district, and block levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma with 2-5 years of experience in the development sector, preferably related to Water, Public Health, Sanitation, and Hygiene, working with government or NGOs.
  • Excellent communication skills in Telugu and English; knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to work with and manage suppliers and contractors effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience implementing programs at district, block, and community levels.
  • Valid driving license and access to a personal vehicle (two- or four-wheeler); travel expenses reimbursed as per policy. Submission of driving license copy mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to align with community and government schedules, including early mornings or evenings.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Good understanding of the functions and procedures of the Public Health Engineering Department/Rural Water Supply System (PHED/RWSS).
  • Experience in capacity-building government stakeholders at district and sub-district levels.
  • Ability to prepare and manage presentations and reports comprising diverse datasets.

Additional Information

  • This is a fixed one-year contract position based in Andhra Pradesh. Candidates should indicate preferred working locations: Eluru, Kadapa, or Vizianagaram. Final placement will depend on organizational needs.
