About the Role
The Chaplin Family YMCA in Waterloo Region is seeking a dedicated Facility Cleaner to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position offers 37.5 hours per week, with shifts Monday to Thursday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and Fridays from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The role starts in September 2026 and includes one vacancy.
Responsibilities
The Facility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high cleanliness standards throughout the YMCA facility. Duties include cleaning showers, washrooms, floors, and hard surfaces; replenishing dispensers like soap and paper products; managing cleaning supplies; washing, drying, and restocking towels; and completing other assigned tasks. Active participation in training and staff meetings is also expected. This physically demanding role requires multitasking, strong organizational skills, and high energy levels.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have at least one year of experience in a similar cleaning role and be proficient with various cleaning tools and equipment. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team and be committed to fostering an inclusive social environment. Physical demands include frequent stair climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exerting physical effort. Certifications such as WHMIS and Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED are considered assets. Flexibility to support cleaning duties at the Guelph YMCA location is an advantage.
