Examiner - BTEC Next Generation

Role Overview

We are hiring BTEC Examiners across various sectors including Animal Care, Applied Science, Business, Construction, CPLD, Engineering, Equine Studies, Health and Social Care, Hospitality, Media, Music, Performing Arts, Public Services, and Travel & Tourism. Additionally, we are seeking examiners who can verify assessments in Welsh.

BTEC Next Generation Examiners are responsible for assessing candidates' responses according to a specified mark scheme and following strict examination procedures and Codes of Practice. The majority of marking is performed electronically via ePEN from home, though some subjects require traditional paper script marking. Candidates must have a substantial subject knowledge base to accurately apply the mark scheme and will receive a specific allocation of scripts to assess.

Core Responsibilities

• Accurately and consistently mark exam responses to preserve standards.
• Submit marked sample work to the Team Leader at designated times.
• Comply with marking deadlines and milestones.
• Complete all required administrative tasks correctly and on schedule.

Experience and Qualifications

• Possess at least one academic year of teaching experience within the last eight years.
• Teaching experience must be relevant to the subject area and level of BTEC assessments.
• Hold qualified teacher status.

Required Competencies

• Ability to perform well under pressure.
• Strong aptitude for meeting strict deadlines.
• High level of subject-specific knowledge to apply marking criteria thoroughly.
